This is the pizza I ran over with my cart.

And I'd like to thank the nice man who optimistically said "Well, I don't think it actually touched the pavement" as he scraped it off the parking lot for me while my five-year-old sat wailing in the cart. To Jake's credit I know his ear infection and pneumonia make him less than his optimal self, so he gets a pass. But five-year-old wailing is not nearly as endearing as, say, newborn wailing. So I'd also like to thank all of the nice people in the store for not staring too long while we waited for his prescription to be filled. Except the mean lady who glared at us the whole time. I politely glared back.

Picture Perfect Day

Today was a beautiful day outside! Neither Jason or I remember more gorgeous weather in quite a while. We hiked a newly discovered trail to the beach (more pictures of that adventure to come) and then had a picnic and played in the park. The two and a half hours we spent outside must have worn the kiddos out since they matched it with two and a half hour naps apiece.

Sick Day

Today three out of four of us were home with awful colds. And since there is nothing better at curing colds than blue skies, sunshine and fresh air we headed to the park! You'll notice Jake only appears (sort of ) in one picture. That would be because he was making a game of hiding from my camera today. But I did get great pictures of the dad of another little girl at the park, the dog, the play equipment and the fence in my attempt to capture the elusive Jake on film. I'm sure the other parents thought I was crazy running around chasing him under slides, over merry-go-rounds and around swings with my camera outstretched determined to win this little game of his. And in the end I got three (sort of) pictures of him. Ha!

Big Huge Subtle Changes

Over the past few months both Jake and Payton have changed so much. I guess I don't realize how quickly they're changing day to day. But then suddenly Jake is reading and writing letters to grandparents without so much as asking how to spell a word and having sleepovers at friend's houses. And Payton is talking and running and loving to have her toenails painted (purple mama!). And I'm left in awe at how fabulously lucky I am to have such great kiddos!
